I Am The Diva - Weekly ZenTangle Challenge - #1

Yes, for one of my first ZenTangles of 2012 I went all the way back to the beginning of I Am The Diva's challenges! I chose to work with #1 - "Simplicity".   For it I used the two tangle patterns of AHH and DL NEBULA.  I completed this challenge a little differently than the others. I used it to fill in the blank side of my youngest son's birthday card from the family Elf on the Shelf, Chippy Junior, who made a special trip back for his birthday with Santa's permission. Between Chippy Junior surprising him and getting the snow he wished for, he had a great birthday! He thought it was the coolest thing that he got a card from Chippy Junior, Santa & everyone at the North Pole!  Here's the final result:

Wow, I cannot believe how long it's been since I was here last.  Bad Blogger! Bad!!

Well, that's over and done and so last year! LOL  Right now here today is a brand new year, brand new week and brand new day!!

This is a list of my intentions for 2012 -
.

.
2) Write every day at 750words.com - 750words.com
.
3) Write on my personal blog (Scribo Ergo Sum) each day - http://scribo---ergo---sum.blogspot.com/
.

Those intentions (and any others I create during the course of the year) should keep 2012 right on target for me.  I finished 2011 having lost 15 pounds and that is one of my proudest accomplishments for the year.  I am looking forward to what I can do now with 2012!

I Am The Diva - Weekly ZenTangle Challenge - #27

This week's I Am The Diva Zentangle Weekly Challenge is Number 27 and is titled "Duo-Tangle". It was a real challenge for me because both of the patterns you are supposed to use are ones I have never used. But, I did my best with my first try and I will tell you, it looked better in my head than it came out on paper! So, I decided to give it a try one more time.

Miss Diva?? I have one request - for your awesome slide-show, please use just the two close-ups - Thank You!!

Thank You, Diva, for giving me challenges that are fun and functional :-)  I've enjoyed all I've learned just by taking part in your weekly challenges.

I Am The Diva - Weekly ZenTangle Challenge - #26

This Zentangle challenge from I Am The Diva was the fastest one I completed yet!! I am so happy right now!! It's the new challenge for this week - #26 - "String Theory - Version III - Spiral Out, Keep Going"

As of right now it looks like I might actually be the 10th person to complete it!! With that in mind let me get the pics posted here so I can share them there!! :-)

I Am The Diva - Weekly ZenTangle Challenge - #11

The next random Zentangle Challenge I picked from I Am The Diva was Challenge #11 - "Monotangle". We'd just gotten a 4 month old male kitten (his name is Smokey) and he was my inspiration for this particular challenge. I selected Carole Ohl's "Daggerly" for the single tangle to use and no, the irony of daggers with a kitten's claws was not lost on me. For this entry you have the pics of my tangle and a bonus pic of Smokey - enjoy! :-)

Smokey - isn't he handsome?

I Am The Diva - Weekly ZenTangle Challenge - #6

I was having fun just skipping around picking random Zentangle Challenges from I Am The Diva when for my third contribution I decided to pick something a little more difficult - at least to a Tangle-newbie who hasn't had any official training. I picked Challenge #6 - "Ixorus" - and first did a test run on how to do it "correctly" (because really there is no wrong way to do a tangle) and had fun colouring it in before I did the actual tangle to fulfill the challenge. Enjoy!

For the next Zentangle Challenge from I Am The Diva, I chose Lucky #7 - "Breathe" - Here is my contribution:

I Am The Diva - Weekly ZenTangle Challenge - #24

So I've decided that trying to write more in my life wasn't quite enough. I miss the way I used to draw and sketch just for the fun of it so I have chosen to take up the Zentangle weekly challenges from I Am The Diva.
The first Challenge I chose to try was Challenge #24 - String Theory V.II - Stripes - here is my contribution:

What's My Story?

My apologies for being absent for so long. I had actually begun this blog while in the hospital. It's been a wild ride since!  I find it difficult to believe that my children will be finishing school this week and that summer is here.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about what my life means. What will I leave behind for this world? Not just with what I instill in my children, but what I will leave for others to find, people I don't even really know.

I have been taking part in a movement that is simple and yet so profound - it's called Operation Beautiful. I have enjoyed leaving the random post-it notes anywhere and everywhere while I go about my daily life. Something so simple as "Remember you are loved!" can help change someone's day and it takes so little to do so. But sometimes I find myself wondering if it's made any difference at all to anyone? Have I touched anyone's life with my notes? Has it mattered to anyone??

I have also recently begun my stint as an Affiliated Agent for Secret Agent L - I've done three missions so far and they've all been fun to do.  But as with Operation Beautiful, I find myself wondering what happened to the gifts I left behind?? Who have they touched or were they just thrown away??

I'm not entirely sure why this all matters to me so much, I just know that it does.  I'd like to know that something I have done has helped change someone's life for the better.  It's what I used to love about working at a large arena - thousands of people who's lives I could change with just a smile or a kind word after a long day. It kept a smile on my face every shift no matter what my day had been like. And most often, in smiling at others and making sure they were greeted warmly I would find my own mood changing for the better.

I had been taking part in another project created by MeYou Health called Daily Challenge. If you've never heard of it you can watch their video here. Their new video is titled "Daily Challenge: Simple Health. Every Day." Most of the challenges are fun, silly and simple. When I started, it was fun to anticipate the new challenges and how I would complete them. After a few weeks I realized that I was looking at how far others were ahead of me, how many badges they'd earned or how many points they'd amassed. I began doing it just to look good, to earn the points and try to win against my friends. That's when I knew I needed a break.

I stepped away not only from Daily Challenge, but from two other sites I loved visiting every day: We Love Gratitude and 750words.com because I was doing the same thing. Was I writing as many words as others were? How many gratitude lists did I have compaired to so-and-so and so-and-so? I wasn't doing them for the reasons I'd started for - to better myself and to have fun.

After a full month away from all of them, I am looking forward to beginning them again with the 1st of June and I pray that I keep my eyes on the correct reasons for doing them. I am who I am and no matter how much "better" any of my friends are doing than I am, I can only do what I can do. If I miss a day, I miss a day. I would rather miss another whole month if it meant better time spent with my husband and kids.

One other things I am giving myself to do to challenge myself is to try to take part in at least one of the Zentangle challenges issued by i am the diva each month. I'd really like to try to do the one each week, but as long as I complete one each month I'll be happy with myself. Never heard of Zentangle before? You can learn about them at their site zentangle.com

Okay, that's going to be it for this entry. It's late and I am tired. My guys are all asleep and now it's my turn.

Thanks for reading!

In Gratitude & Love,
Chrissi

What's Your Story?

Only you get to write the story of your life.
Will others be amazed by how you overcame adversity or saddened by a life not lived?
Will they laugh with you, cry for you or be inspired by you?
Each day you get to write a new chapter.
What's your story?

This blog will be where I tell my story. Where I get to share the good, the bad, the beautiful, the not-so-beautiful.  You are welcome to join me, or not. This is my little corner of the blogging world, welcome to it.
